From the time you accept a credit card to the time you are paid, here is the process your transaction takes:

Who is Involved in a Typical Transaction?

Cardholder - Makes a purchase using their card.

Merchant - Accepts the card as payment for a purchase.

Issuer - Provides the card to the Cardholder and maintains that cardholder's account (First National Bank).

Acquirer - Processes card sales for merchant (First National Merchant Solutions).

Associations - Visa^® and MasterCard™.

Authorization/EDC Vendor - Provides a means of electronic communication between Merchant, Acquirer and Issuer.
