PayPal® simplifies e-commerce by providing payment connectivity over the Internet between buyers, sellers and financial networks. PayPal® offers a flat fee monthly pricing model and an expanding menu of services which bring affordability and ease of use to the process of buying and selling online. Combined with its robust scalable and open architecture, PayPal® is designed to support business-to-consumer (B2C) and business-to-business (B2B) with both credit card and check applications.
E-commerce Solutions
The two applications that make up the PayPal® e-commerce connectivity solution are Payflow Link and Payflow Pro.
- Payflow Link is an HTTP-based solution; ideal
for businesses seeking an efficient means of conducting secure automated
transactions over the Internet. Payflow Link allows merchants to connect their
prospective
customers to a secure PayPal®-hosted order form. This form is used to automate
order acceptance, authorization, processing and the management of transactions
and is accessed by adding a hyperlink from the merchant web site to PayPal®,
the secure host. In addition, Payflow Link allows the merchant to enter transaction
information into a virtual terminal, which proves to be an ideal solution
for merchants with low to moderate retail, mail/order or Internet transaction
volumes.
- Payflow Pro is primarily designed for merchants requiring integration with their shopping cart and higher transaction volume performance features. Payflow Pro can be downloaded as a Software Development Kit (SDK) or is available pre-integrated with most shopping carts and e-commerce platforms. Once the merchant secures their Web site with a digital certificate, Payflow Pro allows processing through a SSL TCP/IP connection. The PayPal® thin client application controls the communication between the merchant site and the Payflow Pro platform on the PayPal® server.
